On June 24th, from 9a.m. to 1p.m., the 2nd Serenoa workshop will take place in London, CASFE'2013 will be co-located with EICS (the fifth ACM SIGCHI Symposium on Engineering Interactive Computing Systems). The agenda for the presentations has already been defined, and it is available online. The participants of this workshop are also invited to attend a tutorial about Creativity and Agile development that will take place on Monday evening.

Also on June 24th (Monday), the third Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) Meeting of Serenoa project will take place. This event joins participants of the project and external practitioners. The IAB meeting targets at the main exploitation actions for the Serenoa project.
On June 25th and 26th, Serenoa partners will meet in London for a consortium meeting, the goal is to synchronize their works and also to plan the last phases of the project before the final review meeting.

FIA Dublin 2013

This week from May 8th to 10th, the Serenoa project will be presented during the 2013 Future Internet Assembly event. This event will be held in Dublin, Ireland on 8th to 10th May, in association with the Irish presidency of the Council of the EU.

The European Commission, in collaboration with EU Presidencies has, since 2008, hosted regular Future Internet Assembly events (FIA, http://www.future-internet.eu). FIA is a research community driven initiative supported by more than 150 research projects that have recognised the need to strengthen European activities on the Future Internet (FI) to main

tain European competitiveness in the global marketplace. In particular, these projects have identified the urgent need to redesign significant part of the Internet, taking a broad multidisciplinary approach, to meet European societal, business and technology ambitions.

Participants are members of the FI community, who include the national and EU project coordinators and partners of FP7 funded projects both academic and industry researchers.

Serenoa 2nd Year: Review Results

Serenoa has recently received the technical review report, which presents the feedback about the project results regarding its 2nd year period. Based on the achievements and progress of Serenoa project, the european reviewers and the commission have approved the continuity of Serenoa. The progress of the project was reported mainly by means of deliverables, reports, presentations and demonstrations.

Although all deliverables have been successfully approved, i.e. without any modification required, a set of recommendations was suggested. These recommendations concern, among other topics, the evaluation plan decisions and the coverage of context.

The dissemination of the project results was considered satisfactory. In particular, the academic dissemination and the standardization efforts have been appreciated.

To achieve the next goals for the project during its future phases, all recommendations proposed will be carefully taken into account.

Successful presentation of Serenoa joint paper at LREC Conference

Serenoa joint paper was presented at LREC’12 conference in Istanbul on May 24th, 2012 by Dr. Javier Caminero, the project coordinator.
The presentation took place in the “Web Services” session and it was done using a poster, taking in this way advan

tage of a direct contact with the participants in the event.

The participants showed a great interest for the project and considered it very ambitious and interesting. A high number of persons talked to Javier and discussed with him many details of the project.

Serenoa Workshop

The first Serenoa workshop will be held jointly with the Ambient Intelligence conference, in Pisa (Italy), on November, 13th, 2012.

Given the importance of performing context-aware adaptation in a scenario of ubiquitous, pervasive and mobile compu

ting; this workshop aims at reviewing the state-of-the-art in this domain and promoting the discussion among the interested community.

Besides, we intend to discuss positive and negative experiences, related works, and to highlight criteria and requirements that may drive context-aware adaptation in this scenario.

The workshop is organized by Francisco Javier Caminero Gil (Serenoa project coordinator), Fabio Paterno (CNR – ISTI) and Jean Vanderdonckt (UCL).

This workshop will last half a day, and participants are welcome from any background or discipline that is concerned with the main topic (Context-aware Adaptation).

Serenoa at LREC 2012

The paper entitled ‘The SERENOA Project: Multidimensional Context-Aware Adaptation of Service Front-Ends’ submitted to the LREC Conference 2012, was approved and it will be presented by Javier Caminero. This paper is authored by Javier Caminero, Mari

Carmen Rodríguez, Jean Vanderdonckt, Fabio Paternò, Joerg Rett, Dave Raggett, Jean-Loup Comeliau and Ignacio Marín.

The LREC (Language Resources and Evaluation) Conference will be held in Istanbul (Turkey) from 21st to 27th May. The aim of LREC is to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art, explore new R&D directions and emerging trends, exchange information regarding LRs and their applications, evaluation methodologies and tools, ongoing and planned activities, industrial uses and needs, requirements coming from the e-society, both with respect to policy issues and to technological and organisational ones. The paper describes Serenoa project motivates the work on multi-dimensional context-aware adaptation, presents the methodologies proposed by the project, i.e. CADS, CARF, CARFO, describes the Serenoa laguages (ASFE-DL and AA-DL), defines the architecture of the project and its modules. Besides this, some future venues and application scenarios are presented.
